This is an athletic fit shirt. If your man has a tummy paunch, go with a fuller Columbia shirt. Otherwise, shirt style and material are five stars!?

Love the fit..I am 6 ft 200lbs..40inch chest and 34 inch waist and a size MEDIUM works well for me.I prefer a closer fit. Fabric is light and silky and STRETCHY(my favorite feature). I bought 3.

Great shirt for one bag travel. It looks great while having the advantage of being designed for the outdoors. It is well ventilated so I felt cool and comfortable even in the hot sunshine. The shirt is easy to wash and does not hold odors. Wrinkles fall out easily and the shirt dries overnight without a dryer. The best part is it does not look like an outdoors shirt like some of the their competitors.

With this shirt in a couple colors I was able to do 19 days in Japan with only a carry on and not look like a bum. If you do "one bag travel" consider adding this shirt to your wardrobe.

I ordered the large size. That's a good fit with room to spare for my 40" chest, and sleeve length works out. The color is called Dark Backcountry, though online it looks to be a mid-green, but in reality it is more of a forest green (dark), which is fine by me. The chest pockets are weird in that the flaps are sewn down at the outer edges, so that while the pockets themselves are roomy enough, it makes it hard to get more than three fingers into the pockets when you're trying to put something in or take them out. It also restricts the ability to carry something that sticks out of the pocket. Other than that I'm happy with it.

I like the construction of these shirts as they are tougher than the PFG ( fishing ) line of Columbia. They run closer to " true to size " than the PFG line which tend to run large. To me the biggest issue with the Silver Ridge line is the arms are too tight... I've seen the inside of a gym before but I don't have freakishly " huge " arms ... When the sleeves are unbuttoned and rolled up they are very tight and do not allow for any air movement ... To the extent that it turns the rolled up cuff into a restricted sweat band. I have a few of these Silver Ridge shirts and its a consistent theme. I am 6'1 and 235 - 240.

Seems like a great shirt but need to return it. I wear mostly medium shirts, sometimes large. The medium is way too big for me. I guess if you wanted it REALLY loose, it would be OK. But it looks really sloppy to have it on.
I'll have to return it.

This shirt is nice. It is thin and light and keeps me cool in hot and humid weather. It doesn't conceal sweat well in the blue or green color. The roll up arms are easy to use and overall it's a nice alternative to the more bulky tactical shirts available. I've had a couple little oddities with the fabric - it really dries out my elbows quickly If I'm working at a desk (weird, I know) and also I've gotten a couple of spots where the fabric has puckered (like a run in nylons). The blue color is very accurate to the picture.

Obviously by the poor matching of the two supposedly identical shirts, Columbia has taken a vacation from quality control. First noted was the dissimilar color - one was the seemingly correct Fossil color, the other almost a green. Then when we tried on, were annoyed to find the green one, made in Vietnam as opposed to the Fossil one made in India, was such a poor fit we are returning it. Neither are particularly commodious but the green one from Vietnam would have been a tight fit for a medium, much less an extra large.

Learned our lesson - never buy from Columbia again. Pretty stupid on their part if you ask me.

This shirt is pretty comfortable, but I think their size chart is off. I first tried the large, and it was way too big for me so I sent it back and got the medium. I have an 18" neck, so with the max in that range being 16" I was expecting to be choking with the top button buttoned. The chest measurement was a little baggy, but acceptable since the range said 38" to 41" and I'm 40". The chart said the waist for the shirt would be up to 35" and mine is 36", so I thought the shirt might be tight, but it was actually baggy.

Depending on the brand I'm either a medium or a large, but I had room with the medium. For anyone I would say to pick the smaller of your usual options and you should be happy.

I found the styling very nice. There are two pockets in the front which lay flat, unlike some other travel shirts which look like you're wearing a cargo shirt. There are two mesh vents behind the armpits for cooling. Beside the mesh the shirt material is 100% nylon, which gives the shirt a slick feel. From the other reviews sizing seems to vary greatly. I bought a medium and I felt the sizing was dead on. I would classify the shirt I received as am athletic cut medium. I plan on buying a few more. Hope that helps.
