I am an outdoor, play in the dirt, big goofy garden hat, kinda person.
And after living in an apartment building for 4 years?
I can’t tell you how excited I am about the potential in our backyard!
Unfortunately we kinda just moved.
Therefore, I must unpack.
Our children kinda need clean underpants.
Therefore, I must do laundry.
And we all kinda need to eat on a regular basis.
Therefore, I must cook.
But sometimes, it’s ok to just let it all sit and dig up a tree stump. Right?
How do you balance your indoor-outdoor chores?
Does anyone else have trouble remembering to wear sunscreen?

Love it! We are moving and our new house has an awesome space for a garden. I can’t choose paint colors or cabinet pulls because I’m obsessing over what to plant where. I’ve decided to plan it in my head and then I’ll be able to get the yard started in the fall…

Are you living on post or off post at Bliss? I live off post but it seems 97% of yards here are like rock yards lol.

I have never been great in the garden but I want to be. I am proud for keeping my Orchid alive as long as I have, and have started some English daisy’s. Good luck with your garden!

You are too funny! Love that last picture. And I hardly ever wear sunscreen lol

I love you. And yes, my outdoors has been overgrown for weeks because of my inside chores, and illness. Sigh.

My outdoors chores are the break when I can’t stand the indoor chores for another second… which means that the outdoor chores are more often finished and the house is a mess.

I do outdoor chores in the morning when I am not ready for the indoor. Gardening is relaxing and find the morning is peaceful and not hot. Oh, and I don’t have to think about sunscreen.

So happy you have some soil of your own to play with there. You are missed in Baumholder. I am interested in learning more about the garden space on post soon.
Sunscreen? Easy to forget what that is living over here. High was only 66 today.
Best regards,
Melissa

Feel free to lend your green thumb and expertise to our mess of a back yard any time you want! (And you’ll learn about sunscreen in El Paso real fast, haha–hope the burn doesn’t last too long!)

Love that last photo too…took my brain a minute to understand how you took it. I’m one that knew nothing about gardening so let it be with so many military moves…the “why bother” attitude, then learned to love it (sort of, loved the results anyway). One thing we didn’t realize til we retired and settled down…up til now we’ve never had to live with our gardening decisions…we always moved before they became any kind of problem:) i.e. tree planted too close, too many plants planted too close and then really growing to full size. I’ve finally found the meditation in gardening, yes even weeding…and the gift of being outside in nature any chance I get! (even consciously plan now for “what plants you see out of each window” bringing outside in. If I had it to do over again, I’d do a lot more of that..probably with plants in pots.

Well, I was finally embarrassed enough to go out front and pull out some weeds and pick up the grass clippings after my next door neighbor mowed our lawn! I can’t use the “unpacking” excuse forever, right? I always give myself two weeks inside..and then say I have to get to work on the outside, even if it’s in bits and pieces!
