And that’s my story and I’m stickin to it

Military Life, Moving

So last week I promised ya’ll I’d be blogging more regularly with updates about our 2000 mile road trip.

Unfortunately when I wrote this,
I was happily sitting in my local Starbucks,
sipping a deliciouso caramel macchiato,
and blissfully enjoying my first taste of high speed internet since we left Germany.

In short, I wasn’t thinking clearly.

Like the next morning when I thought it was a good idea to take the kids for a walk to our local grocery store that is less than a mile away. I figured a nice long walk would tire them out so they would all take a lovely LONG afternoon nap.

Nope. They didn’t.

Apparently pushing a double jogging stroller is only tiresome for Mom.
But we DID made a new friend on our walk home.

A new friend who followed us home on our morning walk

Two days later we received our Household Goods shipment.
All. 11. Crates.

Which means this is what my kitchen looked like the next morning…

One dish pack box empty, 17 to go! #milspouse #unpacking #kitchen

And what it looked like 12 hours later.

5 boxes left of 17 #HEARmeROAR #milspouse #unpacking

Bottom line is that while my intentions were good,
they were written in a caffeine induced,
high speed internet connectivity amplified,
blissful euphoric state.

But I do have some good news…
We now.
have internet.
in our home.

Which means you will be hearing from me a lot more often.
(And I type that with my most sincere and honest font.)

I will continue our “PCS Roadtrip Saga” this week along with some random fun updates as we slowly unpack our things and create a new home for our family in our new hometown of El Paso, Texas.

So catch me up – what have I been missing in the blogosphere while I’ve been offline?
How is your summer going so far?

Welcome back! Can’t wait to hear about your traveling adventures, I’m always interested in others experiences and places they stop along the way. It seems like the FB page of Overly Sensitive Military Wives (OSMW) is blowing up…whether they allow cyber bullying to happen on their page or if it is just a place to have a give laugh at the different military stereotypes….I perosnally don’t agree with posting pictures of others without their knowing in order to make fun of them, but have laughed at some of the other posts on the page.

I am so happy you are back on line! I was hoping to be making our move in just a short while too. However, the military seen it a different way. My husband graduates from his AIT really soon. He graduated BCT on the 4th of July and it was amazing. Then he went onto his next training site only to sit and wait, and wait, and wait. Now he has been told his training starts tomorrow. That puts us out a couple weeks longer. Not in time to get the kids in school there and not here. So I have decided to start this year with homeschooling. I don’t know if I can do it, but I am going to give it my best shot. My two who are left in school are 14 and 13. That translates into 8th grade and 10th grade. I also learned that my husband wont be coming home to help us move like previously thought.

This isn’t the most ideal situation but I know I can do this! It sounds like it will be from one side of the United States to the other. We are hoping it will be by Savannah, GA. It would be quite a change in culture but you already know how that goes. This will be before Thanksgiving but not by much. Maybe a few weeks or so. I don’t really know if we are going to have housing available at post or not, maybe. That is what has been happening in my world. Oh, and watching for your return to the blogging world! Thanks for sharing. Give me all the tips from your trip you have. I am traveling with and dog and a cat. Both close in size. Hope you get all settled in quickly!

Oh PCSing and finding internet. My main goal was an internet connection, and luckily we got it installed practically the first day we were here. Thank goodness!

I’m so jealous of your HHG’s already being there – ours will pack out in about 2 months and I’m already fretting how long they’ll take to arrive. On the upside, we know where we are going – and we’ll be in Texas too! WOOT!
