Life has been all kinds of crazy here.
My sister, Sarah, had her baby on Monday!
She and her husband waited until the birth to find out — “It’s a BOY!”
Here she is out “for a little walk with the kids: 21 hours old, 2 years 4 months old.”
If she wasn’t my wonderful little sister, I think I’d say something snarky about how SKINNY she looks
and how CRAZY it is that she’s outside walking around AT HOME with her babies… but since she IS my sister -
I’ll just stick out my tongue at her when you’re not looking.
Gotta love family.
In other news I’ve been craving Shamrock Shakes. I’m not sure what that’s about.
McDonald’s doesn’t make them in Germany so we had to find a recipe to make our own.
Also – peppermint extract is no where to be found in Germany.
I was so determined, I even tried using charades in one of our German grocery store to describe it to three women.
“Do you know Vanilla? For Cookies? You make like this?” (pouring liquid motion) “Do you know Peppermint?”
I felt utterly defeated while searching for a “Peppermint Substitute” — until I saw a reference to schnaps.
Schnaps? Oh yes. I’m serious. And? Our local Shoppette carries Peppermint Schnapps!
I made a shamrock shake to celebrate my brand new nephew.
I think he’s going to like his Auntie Annie
I took my husband to a polish pottery outlet store over the weekend.
Turns out he likes the patterns with different shades of greens and browns.
“Why didn’t you tell me sooner darling? I’ll be sure to add some more of those colors.”
Ahem. Just thinking of you dear. Really.
Would you like for me to make you another Shamrock shake?
And? During one of our outings to a German Supermarket, we splurged on a Food Science Experiment.
Taste and texture comparisons between beef, wild boar, and pork sausage.
I do believe this calls for something to wet our whistle and clear the palate between tastings.
Shamrock Shake anyone?
All of these stories are coming to a blog near you – once I get a nap and catch up on some of this laundry!
How is your week going? Are you doing anything special for Leap Day?
Oh – and does anyone else crave Shamrock Shakes this time of year?

Ahhhh a Polish pottery OUTLET STORE?! I would die. And your sister does look ridiculously good after birthing a baby a mere 21 hours before that picture was taken.
Congrats to her!!

Love shamrock shakes! Although, I picked one up and it had whipped cream and a cherry on top. I didn’t love it. But the shake was pretty tastes and minty…

I believe the commissary has peppermint extract. If not here, definitely in Ramstein. You know… for when you run out of peppermint schnapps!
So excited for Sarah and the family! I think 21 hours after my boys’ were born all I wanted to do is sleep! I don’t think I’d thought about going for a walk for weeks!

Love shamrock shakes! I’d gladly give them up though just to be living back in Germany again!

Making faces at people behind their back is like making a face to yourself your are really the one at the receiving end because the other person does not see it.
