This week on the 29th of July, I will be participating in a 24 hour relay marathon.
Yes. I’m crazy.
The 2011 KMC Viking Challenge event, is to help raise money for the Landstuhl Fisher House.
Yes. You heard me right. Viking.
For those of you who may not know, here is a little background info from the Landstuhl Fisher House website:
Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC) is the largest American hospital outside of the United States, and the only American tertiary hospital in Europe. It is a fully accredited health care facility which serves approximately 100,000 primary care beneficiaries, and 245,000 total beneficiaries in the European Command. As of January 2004, LRMC has treated more than 58,000 service members and civilians, which include DOD civilians, contractors and coalition service members from 44 countries.
The two Landstuhl Fisher Houses provide a “home away from home” for families and patients receiving medical care at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany. As of today, we are proud to have supported over 9,500 families of which 2,433 have come from Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF-Afghanistan) or Operation New Dawn (formerly OIF). We are also proud to say we have assisted 27 coalition countries in their families’ time of need.
So as you can see – or um read – this is a very WORTHY cause!
Which is the exact persuasive words I used to convince my friends to do this event with me!
Doesn’t that make you want to be my friend now?
*crickets chirping*
We’ve decided to call ourselves “Team Rosie the Riveter” inspired by the World War II fictional character who embodies the Modern Military Spouse spirit so well! Many of us were once the girl a soldier left behind, who learned to become more self reliant, courageous, and independent than we could ever imagine! With over a dozen combined deployment experiences between us, we are well aware of the cost of war – and are very committed to supporting a campaign that has a direct impact on military families in need. Here is a picture of our donation envelopes!
And so – my dear readers – this is the part where YOU come in!
Would you be willing to help support such a worthy cause?
You can make a donation online via our official Fisher House “Team Rosie” fundraiser page.
You can LIKE our Team Rosie Facebook page to follow along while we share photos LIVE from the marathon!
And you can share these pages with your family and friends!
The more money raised, the more military families can be helped!
Do you have a Fisher House story that you would like to share?
Do you have a “Rosie the Riveter Moment” that you would like to share with all of us?
One of my favorites was fixing my dryer vent when my dear friend took this million dollar photo!
This post has been linked to “Tackle it Tuesday” via 5Minutes for Mom – What are you tackling this week?

Isn’t Maggie’s expression just hysterical!?!?!!? Seth was away training and I didn’t want to pull the entire dryer out of that tight little corner – so I just leaned down the back to reattach the hose clamp so the dryer would vent properly!
