At Mum-mum’s insistence, Hubby and I snuck out of the house yesterday for the evening.
We decided it might be fun to scope out a new restaurant downtown.
Here is the “Gemischter Salat” or Mixed Salad with the cream dressing. It was an amazing combination of vegetables that included the traditional lettuce, tomatoes, carrots and cucumbers… but it also had some flavorful surprises like sweet corn, spicy onions, and two kinds of sauerkraut.
We also had an order of toasted Brushetta… the amount Basil was perfect…
The waitress also brought these pieces of toasted bread – the herb-butter mixture was a.m.a.z.i.n.g.
(no seriously – I had to consciously try not to lick the plate.)
Our main course was a “Pizza-Tasche (Calzone) mit Pilzen, Salami, Schinken und Peperoni” which means it was filled with pepperoni, mushrooms, sausage, ham, and peppers. I’m so glad my husband and I asked for an “Extra Teller Bitte – Wir teilen.” which means Extra plate please – We’re sharing.
But the best part of the evening – besides spending time alone with my handsome husband -
was discovering the take-out menus in a basket by the door!
