Thank you for stopping by!
My name is Ann Marie and I call my blog Household6 Diva.
Long ago when my husband and I were newlyweds, he started calling me “Household 6“,
a military joke meaning ‘Commander of the Household’,
and it has been an ongoing joke ever since!
This is the story of my ongoing efforts to Balance my Life between being Wife of a Soldier,
Mother to three small children, and remind myself IT IS OK to be a Diva sometimes!
My hubby, Seth, is a Soldier in the United States Army.
And yes, the night we met, it was the handsome man in uniform that caught my eye!
I caught his eye because I was wearing a big, purple, ruffled, hoop-supported, Civil War era dress.
And I showed him my ankles.
But that is a story for another day!
We have been married for 7 years and we have three beautiful children.
Their names are Jacob, William, and Madeline.
And no we didn’t plan the perfect 22 month spacing – the Army did!
This blog is my outlet to share recipes, creative things to do around the home, in my patio garden,
and continue to learn more about the art of photography.
It is also a place to write about what life is really like for a modern military family living in Germany.
We are now recovering from my husband’s 4th deployment since 2003.
(3 to Iraq. Now to Afghanistan.)
Feel free to browse my pages listed in the link bar above or through these links:
Cooking, Home and Garden, Military Life, and Photography.
(And seriously? If nothing else? Check out the Pretzel recipe - it’s AH-MAY-ZING!)
I also have created a Military Spouse Blogging Community Page with over 700 links from around the world.
If you are a Military Spouse, or would like to connect with this unique community,
I encourage you to browse through some links, maybe post a button on your blog,
then share your support and genuine encouragement.
Thank you for stopping by! I hope to see more of you!
I am very active on Twitter and Facebook - so please feel free to connect either way!
Oh and please leave me a comment
so I can come visit your lovely blog too!

I love your blog. The Veterans' Day post was tremendous and there is nothing more than I enjoy than a good cup of coffee.
My husband and I have been married 7.5 years and have been apart more than we've been together as well.
This morning, telling my husband about "Household 6 took my weekend pass" and laughing (we're talking in IM's while he's in Afghanistan) he said, "I refer to you as household 6 all the time." Who knew.
I'm adding you to my blog roll to follow regularly.

I love your site, Ann Marie… I find myself returning again and again…. Great job!!! I tried to add your “Military Blogger” badge to my site, but it doesn’t seem to be working… But, I understand you’re doing some remodeling on your site, so it’s probably just a temporary snag… Anyways, keep up the great work!!! Loving your photography & your daily musings…

Does your husband eat beef jerky? Do you normally send him jerky while he’s deployed? I’m trying to spread the word to military families that I have found a place online to order jerky from that is even better than the kind you buy in the store. Visit this site to learn more: http://rparteko.jerkydirect.com/?page=prod&prodcat=1&pageaction=0

For some reason my Military Spouse Blogger Button is not showing up on my blog. Anyone know why? I pasted it in a new gadget under HTML/Script. I tried twice.

Hi I am Lea-Ann, my husband has been in the Army for 9 years, we will be married for 9 years this month. We have been to three duty stations and have survived one unaccompanied tour to Korea, two deployments and we are on week two of deployment number three. So…that is a whole lot of numbers to crunch right there! I have recently started a project and blog called Deployment Kitchen 365. It is a blog about friends, food and deployment. I share a meal a couple of times a month with a family and then blog about our time, the food and the family. I love food, cooking and Army families so this blog is growing and shaping itself into something great. Thanks for reading. I love your blog and what a great community, I would love to get involved but am really new to all this!!

Hi Ann Marie,
I’ve been enjoying your blog! I’m a military spouse also….married to my husband and the Air Force and have been doing this for over 30 years. Yes, we are closer to retirement than anything else, but no date yet! I started blogging in November (blogbyFLOGS on Word Press) but haven’t jumped into the military blogging community yet.
I’ve shared some of your blogs with the spouses in my husband’s command because it’s where they’re at…in the middle of deployments and trying to raise kids without family nearby, etc. I love that there are voices such as yours out there that help validate what those spouses are feeling. I’m afraid they sometimes look at me and think I’m hopelessly out of touch….after all, when my husband deployed last time we were just getting email connections! In the scope of the military I’m pretty old at 53!
Keep writing and keep reaching out! I will keep following!

I’m fresh off an embed with a Unit in AFG…and they were all talking about what they’ll do when they get back home; many mentioned Household 6 will keep me busy…even the Agri6 (commander of the unit). Keep up the good work; I know it’s not easy being the Household 6.
