the night we met

August 28, 2009

Family, Marriage

Once upon a time there was a Civil War Valentine’s Day Ball…

A Soldier was home on furlough visiting family…

And a young Lady was celebrating her Birthday…

It was well into the evening when the Soldier had the courage to ask the Lady for a dance…

She blushed. He laughed. They smiled.

At the end of the evening, he asked for her mailing address…

and in his first letter he politely asked to court her.

February 15, 2003. The day I met my husband.

Within a month he deployed to Iraq for a year.

During that year we wrote letters and fell in love.

6 months after his return, he proposed…

and we are living happily ever after.
